Our Breakfast Meeting

There was a lady who suffered from what the medical experts would label CIPA. CIPA is an acronym that means, Congenital Insensitivity to Pain with Anhidrosis. It is an exceptionally rare inherited disorder of the nervous system, which prevents the perception of pain, heat, cold or any nerve related sensation, which also includes feeling the nudge to urinate.

People with this disorder are very likely to injure themselves in ways that would normally be avoided by feeling pain. For example, anyone suffering from this could burn him or herself severely and not even notice or feel any pain. The main signs of this disorder are lack of pain sensation, painless injuries of the arms, legs and oral structures.

You can then imagine what this lady’s parent would be praying and wishing for; they would wish for her to feel the sensation of pain at the very least. Imagine she steps on a piece of nail and no one knows and the same gives her serious infection…it could or would lead to her death.

This is what happens when we are not aware of the so-called evil around us.

1) All of us are well aware that God created all things so the question then is:
2) Is Evil part of the things God created?
3) If the above question is correct, did God create Evil?

Please join me on the 18th of November as we discuss this and more!

Sovereignty means, “what a sovereign has” such as control over his/her kingdom.
God’s sovereignty presents an idea that God is in control of the whole of His kingdom – universe.

Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory, and the majesty. Everything in the heavens and on earth is yours, O Lord, and this is your kingdom. We adore you as the one who is over all things. Wealth and honour come from you alone, for you rule over everything. Power and might are in your hand, and at your discretion people are made great and given strength – 1Chronicles 29:11 – 12

Psychologically speaking, knowing that God is in control of the universe presents an idea that an all-good and all-powerful God is in charge of all that happens to us, which means peace and tranquillity coupled with absolute security.

Does this then mean that God is oblivious to the choices that we are going to make concerning life – He is waiting with bated breath to see how things are going to turn out?

“Men will allow God to be everywhere but on his throne. They will allow Him to be in his workshop to fashion worlds and make stars. They will allow Him to be in His almonry to dispense His alms and bestow his bounties. They will allow Him to sustain the earth and bear up the pillars thereof, or light the lamps of heaven, or rule the waves of the ever-moving ocean; but when God ascends His throne, His creatures then gnash their teeth. And we proclaim an enthroned God, and His right to do as He wills with His own, to dispose of His creatures as He thinks well, without consulting them in the matter; then it is that we are hissed and execrated, and then it is that men turn a deaf ear to us, for God on His throne is not the God they love. But it is God upon the throne that we love to preach. It is God upon His throne whom we trust.” ― Charles Haddon Spurgeon

One of the hormones secreted by the adrenal gland is called ADRENALIN. Medical experts have arrived at a conclusion that this is the hormone responsible for, or is used to stimulate human beings to fight, to flee or to be frightened. It increases glucose and cardiac output to the muscles and is stimulated by the emotions.

Emotion can then be said to be a subjective experience associated with mood, temperament, personality and disposition, root of which is motivation. Sometimes, we tend to associate truth to our feelings or our emotions; we tend to ask or are asked about what we feel on issues.

Adolph Hitler was described as a very persuasive and radical dictator. As an idealist, he became so powerful because to most Germans, he was their hope… he was their “Savior”. But his radical deliberations and goals were eventually too much for the world to brushoff, so he eventually led to the country’s eventual decline…

Adolph Hitler said, “I use EMOTIONS for the majority and reserve REASON for the few”. In other words, he discovered that many are ruled by their emotions and very few are thinkers.

Norman Vincent Peale once said about imaging that it consists of vividly picturing in your conscious mind, a desired goal or objective, and holding that image until it sinks into your unconscious mind, where it releases great and untapped energies.

He further said, “When the imaging concept is applied steadily and systematically, it solves problems, strengthens personalities, improves health, and greatly enhances the chances for success in any kind of endeavor.”

In plain terms, the idea as said by some of our Church Pastors, “if you cannot see the future, you cannot feature in it”.

Is this FAITH? Is the power of imagination becoming confused with the inspiration and power of the Holy Spirit?

“If I see right, the cross of popular evangelicalism is not the cross of the New Testament. It is rather a new bright ornament upon the bosom of self-assured and carnal Christianity. The old cross slew men; the new cross entertains them. The old cross condemned; the new cross amuses. The old cross destroyed confidence in the flesh; the new cross encourages it.” – A Tozer

What exactly is Biblical Faith?

Paul Yonggi Cho declared that it was through the imaginative powers of God that the World was created and because man is a “fourth dimension” spirit being like God, he too, whether Christian or Non- Christian, can create his own world through the same power of Imagination.

Is Faith a formula or a principle, which one applies so that the good things of life come to us or is FAITH a tool we use to drive our troubles away?

What happens (in the context of these definitions) when your FAITH doesn’t seem to be working? Does it mean that God will withhold the said “blessings”?

Is FAITH having a positive attitude, having a positive approach to life, or refusing to say the negatives that we are befuddled with?

Is this the Doctrine of Faith?

OR have we confused the Christian FAITH with mind Science?

J C Ryle once said that, “half of our doubts and fears arise from a dim perception of the real nature of Christ’s Gospel”

C.H Spurgeon says that, “Thinking is a kind of work which the mass of the present race abhor.
Deep thinking is a very shallow affair after all when the thoughts are our own; we only
get into real depths when we receive the thoughts of God.

R.C Sproul says that, “We talk about predestination because the Bible talks about predestination. If we desire to build our theology on the Bible, we run head on into this concept. We soon discover that John Calvin did not invent it” – R.C. Sproul

Should Christians Suffer?

Can I confess the Word so that adversity is eventually forestalled? Can I pray to avert afflictions, misfortune and hardship so that I wouldn’t SUFFER?

SUFFERING does not automatically or naturally lead to development and desired outcomes; it should be handled properly or faced with perseverance and endurance because the same fiery furnace that can destroy can be the same one that can purify if applied with good understanding.

We must be prepared in our heart and mind before the adversity that leads to SUFFERING strikes so that when it eventually strikes, we would not be caught unawares.

The more we get acquainted to and learn the doctrines or the teachings on suffering before the pain strikes, the better our mind and heart acclimatizes to the afflictions when the inevitable happens.

Once the crisis starts, we might not have enough patience to sit down to start learning what the Bible says about it. In other words, when it comes to suffering, we don’t want to be subjected to it with a learn-on-the-job attitude whilst in the middle of it.
