The Message Has Since Changed.

Hebrews 11:20 – 22

There has been so much confusion in the Church and the Body of Christ as a whole over the messages and doctrines we have been teaching and preaching. If you meet ten different Pastors, General Overseers, Bishops, Prophets to mention a few, there would be one common thing amongst them and that is, they all claim that God has given them a separate “message for their generation”. Their messages are different and anyone would wonder in confusion about which Church they can attend. Of course there is an attraction and a selling point for many of these Pastors and when a Pastor/Bishop/General Overseer does not fall into the category of the messages that are money-spinning, they might not be seen as one blessed by God especially when people are not attracted to the gathering.

To be a mega Pastor/General Overseer/Bishop/Prophet, first, you must claim to hear the voice of God constantly and consistently (any question from the pew indirectly means that they are questioning God, but no one wants to be seen to be doing that); you must make sure your Church is seeker focused or seeker sensitive; you must device a message that you think and feel people want to hear so that when you make a brand of such messages, the people would look for you. These are steps taken to ensure the people keep coming back especially as the Pastors want their pews filled up constantly.

What makes the Church seeker sensitive is the much-varied message(s) that we claim God has asked us to teach. We use every means possible to get the unsaved to come in through the doors; we use theatrics, state of the art technology, music and comedy with the intention of not boring our audience and because we want them to come back, the messages must be kept short. The messages must not be those that bring condemnation but the messages that let them know that Jesus has come to make their lives better because demography has shown these as the need of the people.

To remain a seeker sensitive or friendly Church, you must preach messages on MARRIAGE, PARENTING, COMMUNICATION, CONFLICT RESOLUTION, SEX, JOBS, and of course MONEY and PROSPERITY. We have to distort the message of FAITH and present FAITH as an energy that helps you or forces God to do what you want Him to do for you. Once you deviate from the aforementioned list, there is a very high possibility that you might not attract the hundreds, thousand and tens of thousand that may eventually make you a mega Pastor.

All you have to do to become a seeker sensitive Pastor/General Overseer/Bishop/Prophet and to have a mega Church is to change the message of the Bible.

From our last publication, we discovered how God called Abraham and gave him a message for generations to come and through obedience to the message from God, he (Abraham) became endorsed by God. The journey did not stop with Abraham as he died without receiving the PROMISE; and also discovering that God was about presenting Jesus to the world as the final sacrifice. Abraham gave birth to Isaac and the idea behind this birth was for the continuation of the story about a people who would be slaves in a strange land. God had told Abraham that through his seed, a people would emerge because there is the idea of a PROMISED LAND. God had given Abraham the blueprint about His plan for Israel and humanity in general.

Isaac would come up in the scene and the story from his Father must continue and NOT A NEW STORY. God had further stressed His confidence in Abraham when He said, “Should I hide my plan from Abraham?” the Lord asked. “For Abraham will certainly become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth will be blessed through him. I have singled him out so that he will DIRECT HIS SONS and their families to keep the way of the Lord by doing what is right and just. Then I will do for Abraham all that I have promised.” Isaac couldn’t have received another message from God. He had to continue with the same message God gave to his Father.

Isaac became the Father of Esau and Jacob and God knew, even before the children were born that Jacob would become the custodian of the same message given to Abraham. The baton will fall on Jacob to continue with the message. For by FAITH, Isaac pronounced future blessings on his sons, Jacob and Esau. Jacob did not at anytime claim that he had been given another message separate from the same message God gave to Abraham. He had to continue in that which God told Abraham in Genesis 15 which is, “A PEOPLE WERE GOING TO BE FORMED CALLED THE PEOPLE OF GOD”. Oblivious to Jacob, God had planned to use him to become the Father of his thirteen children and of which the twelve men would form the twelve tribes of Israel. It was all about the plan of God and not Jacob’s, viz a viz his ordeal in the hands of Laban. In all this, neither Laban nor Jacob ever knew that God was at work.

The Bible also did not fail to record that Abraham, Isaac and Jacob died still believing what God had promised them. They did not receive what was promised, but they saw it all from a distance and welcomed it. They agreed that they were foreigners and nomads here on earth looking forward to a country they can call their own – they were looking at Heaven, the evidence of things not seen. So someone has to continue with the same message that trickled down from Abraham to Isaac and to Jacob. Jacob would have the singular responsibility to pass on the same message to the next generation.

Jacob did not fail to pass down the message to the sons of Joseph and from then on, Israel had become a Nation under God with the same message that God gave to Abraham in the same Genesis 15. They found themselves in a strange land (Egypt) and history would have made them aware of the fact that God had told their ancestors about their nightmare in Egypt. You would read about them as they referred to their God as the Father of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. It all started from Abraham and the message that God gave to him.

The Israelites would not fail to look back at history as they suffered in the hands of Pharaoh and his taskmasters; they would have discovered that they would be leaving Egypt to the Land that God had promised them. It was through Joseph they got into Egypt and he knew from history that there would be a day when they will all leave Egypt to where God was going to take them. Joseph was very much aware of life after Egypt so in FAITH, before he died, said confidently that the people of Israel would leave Egypt. He even commanded them to take his bones with them when they leave. He didn’t pray that it would happen, neither did he make any confession, but from what God told Abraham, he was able to gather from history that indeed, Egypt wasn’t going to be the last stop.

The same message has continued till date, the seed God spoke to Abraham about was Jesus; and the more reason why Apostle Paul stressed that Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse, for cursed is anyone who hangs upon a tree SO THAT THE BLESSING OF ABRAHAM, NOT ISAAC OR JACOB, BUT ABRAHAM can come upon us Gentiles. Apostle Paul could not speak about FAITH without mentioning the Patriarch, Abraham because it all started from him.

No wonder Paul told Timothy not to deviate from the things he taught him. What we have now in the Church is the preaching and teaching of another Gospel in the name of God. We have watered down the message given to Abraham and have ended up preaching and teaching what people would like to hear – itchy hears.

Charles Haddon Spurgeon was right when he said, “Religious deceivers are the worst of vermin, and I fear they are as plentiful as rats in an old wheat stack. Almost every impostor who has come into the world has aimed principally at the rich, and the mighty, and the respectable; very few impostors have found it to be worth their while to make it prominent in their preaching that they preach to the poor”.

Keep it right here and be refreshed!
